Door scanning

Native scanner apps for iPhone and Android, built for a full room with no signal.

Setting up a device

  1. Install the app on the device (distribution is arranged with your platform contact).
  2. Sign in with the staff member's normal account. Sign‑in opens the system browser, so the app never sees a password. The account needs the box‑office or venue‑manager role at the venue.
  3. Pick the event. The list shows only events the account may work. The device downloads the event's ticket manifest so it can validate offline.

Scanning

Point the camera at the QR: on a phone, in an email, on a printed ticket or on a wallet pass. They all carry the same code. Each scan gets one of four results:

ResultMeaningWhat to do
AdmittedThe ticket was valid and is now used.Let them in.
Already scannedUsed before; shows when and by which device or person.Usually a duplicate copy. The first scan holds.
Not validVoided, refunded or reprinted.Send them to will‑call.
Not foundNot a ticket for this event, or an old code from tickets since transferred and accepted by someone else.Check they're at the right show; if the tickets were given away, the new holder has the working code.

A ticket that has been offered to someone else but not yet accepted still scans for its current holder. Once the transfer is accepted, only the recipient's new code works.

Offline

When the connection drops, the app keeps scanning against its downloaded manifest and queues each result. When the signal returns the queue is sent in batches; each scan carries its own id so nothing is counted twice. Scans made offline are still checked against the server's record when they upload, so a ticket scanned on two offline devices is caught as soon as either reconnects. Keep at least one device online where you can.

Hardware scanners

The apps read from the camera today. Support for dedicated handheld scanners is planned; ask before buying hardware.
